Listen, whether you’re going to be out celebrating your Irish heritage or just using it as an excuse to get out and socialize and have drinks, remember you can’t rely on the luck of the Irish unless you’re a freaking leprechaun. But what you can rely on is your constitutional rights. You have the right to remain silent. You don’t have to answer those questions about where you’re coming from or where you’re going to or what you’ve had to drink or how much of it. Listen, just keep your mouth shut. You do have to give them your driver’s license and insurance, and whatever other documents that they ask for and if they ask you to get out of the car you got to to get out of the car. Be polite. But you’ve got the right to refuse to do the field sobriety tests. When it comes to blood, breath, or urine, you’ve got the right to refuse those tests, but there are consequences.
